Selene Vaelis was born into one of Celis’s most influential families, her life defined by opulence, power, and privilege. Her family, the Vaelis dynasty, is a cornerstone of Celis’s aristocracy, with deep ties to the government and Neo-Osiris. From a young age, Selene was groomed to inherit her family’s fortune and influence, educated in the finest institutions and taught to view Ashen and its people as necessary sacrifices for Celis's prosperity.

But beneath the polished veneer, Selene harbored a rebellious spirit. She was drawn to the stories of Luminara’s fall, finding inspiration in the forgotten ideals of balance between magic and innovation. When she discovered that her family’s wealth was built on the exploitation of Ashen's labor and resources, her disillusionment grew. The final blow came when she uncovered her family’s secret funding of Neo-Osiris’s darker experiments, including the destruction of families like the Kaels in pursuit of power.

Driven by guilt and anger, Selene rejected her birthright. She left behind the comfort of Celis’s elite society to carve her own path, vowing to expose the corruption of both the government and Neo-Osiris. As "Vow," she is an anti-hero navigating the shadows of both Celis and Ashen. Her methods are morally ambiguous—while she fights against oppression, she’s willing to manipulate, betray, or destroy anyone in her way.

Torn between her desire for redemption and her ruthless pursuit of justice, Selene walks a lonely path. Her connections to both worlds make her a key figure in Nivra’s struggle, but whether she will become its savior or its undoing remains uncertain.
