Zeryn Kael grew up in the chaotic depths of Ashen, her striking violet eyes and hair making her a ghostlike figure amidst the industrial sprawl. The Kael family name once held renown as brilliant technomancers in the era of Luminara, but after the city’s ruin, her bloodline became hunted by both Neo-Osiris and rogue scavengers seeking their lost knowledge. To protect their secrets, her parents destroyed everything, leaving Zeryn to inherit nothing but fragments of her family’s mysterious legacy.

At thirteen, Zeryn discovered her ability to manipulate energy—an innate gift passed down from Luminara's ancient magic-tech. This allowed her to phase through solid matter, temporarily becoming incorporeal like a specter. The ability came with severe limitations: every use drained her vitality, and prolonged phasing left her body unstable, flickering in and out of reality.

Forced into the shadows by Neo-Osiris operatives hunting her, Zeryn became a legend in Ashen’s underbelly. As "Specter," she dismantled the regime’s operations, sabotaging their facilities and vanishing before they could retaliate. Now, Zeryn walks the line between rebellion and survival, torn between using her gift to protect Ashen and the fear that every use will one day tear her apart.
